It is an unfortunate fact of life that many people simply do not understand their own language. This is not only because they themselves are not skilled enough to comprehend the meaning of the language, but they fail to recognise the need to learn it themselves. As a result, they are unable to communicate in this way. Rather than attempting to understand, they simply muddle about trying to make sense of the situation.

The first step to making yourself understand is to understand the parts of speech. If you are uncertain about something, then you need to use the word in question to determine its meaning from context. For example, you might say ‘The dog eats’ if you want to imply that the dog eats the food you have placed in front of it.

Then, using the word in question, you need to determine how you are going to connect the two words. The most common way to do this is by making a connection between the two words in your sentence using particles and word order. As an example, you might say ‘The dog eats the food’. In order to understand what I mean here, you need to know that the word ‘the’ is used as a conjunction and it connects the two words: ‘the dog’, ‘the eat’ and ‘says’.

Once you have connected these two words, you need to take the word ‘eat’ and make another connection. In this case, you would say ‘The dog eats the food on the table’. Again, in order to understand this connection, you need to know that the word ‘eats’ has a preposition and that it connects the subject and the verb. You would then use the conjunction again, making the meaning as follows: The dog eats the food on the table.

The next part of understanding is to understand that each part of speech has its own inherent meaning and use. In English, there are so many parts of speech that it can be quite confusing to learn how to use them properly. To help you out with this, you should remember the part of speech abbreviations that are commonly used. For example, in a sentence like ‘I am having trouble sleeping’, you should know that the abbreviation ‘I’ stands for ‘itis’ and that the word ‘being’ is followed by a part of speech that indicates that the activity is physical.

This is basically the biggest part of learning how to understand. You have to understand what each part of speech stands for. Without this, you cannot really understand. Hopefully this article has helped you understand what this takes. No matter what you need to know, it is always best to study before you go out and try to use a new language.
